The second generation T-models, which were first presented at the Frankfurt IAA in 1985, were not only very popular with private individuals, but were also often used as taxis. Like their predecessors, the new T-models were also produced in the Bremen plant, which had already switched completely to car production by this time. Just a few years later, in September 1989, the car manufacturer presented a completely revised model range for the mid-range class at the IAA, which mainly featured stylistic changes. It was mainly the side protection strips that set the new models apart from their predecessors. The 300 DS 124 T-model also cuts a fine figure as a miniature model and is based on its larger model in every detail. For example, the faithfully decorated and flocked interior makes collectors' hearts beat faster, as do the six opening parts on the 1:18 model (doors, tailgate and bonnet). Another special highlight is the paintwork in the authentic color: the driver and passenger sides are printed with a star and the words "The faster the world changes, the more important lasting values are." The precision model, which is assembled by hand from over 118 individual parts, is delivered in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging. This also includes a screwdriver and a glove so that the model can be removed without leaving fingerprints.
